TUBE, CENTRIFUGAL HEMATOLOGY
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers tube kits suitable for use in microhematocrit procedures.
Salient characteristics:
Tubes covered by this specification shall be of the following types as specified for the appropriate stock number and item identification:
Type I – Venous
Type II – Capillary
Shall be a venous or capillary centrifugal hematology tube to perform 100 venous or capillary hematocrits, total white blood cell counts, platelet counts and partial differential determinations. Shall be sitable for use with the Clay Adams QBC Cebtrifugal Hematology System. Shall contain 100 tubes, 100 floats and 100 tube closures.
Tubes. Tubes of both types shall be clean, transparent and fabricated of glass, suitable for the purpose intended. The length of the tube shall be 2.953 ± .010 in. and have an inside diameter of 0.066 ± .00035inches. Tubes shall be straight and open at both ends without obstruction.
Type I. Type I tube shall have a black line, the far end of which is 1.969 in. from one end of the tube. Two additional red lines whose ends are 0.664 and 0.875 in. from the aforementioned black line shall also be included. Tube shall be internally coated with acridine orange, potassium oxalate, agglutinating agent and stabilizers.
